Griffin Campbell, de 12 años, y su familia se trasladan a la pequeña ciudad de Sulphur Springs y se hacen con la propiedad de un hotel abandonado del que se rumorea que está embrujado por el fantasma de una niña que desapareció hace décadas. Griffin se hace amigo de Harper, una compañera de clase de ojos brillantes y obsesionada con el misterio, y juntos descubren un portal secreto que les permite viajar en el tiempo.
