Ciel Phantomhive, Conde de Phantomhive y propietario de Juguetes Phantom, la compañía de juguetes más grande de la Inglaterra Victoriana, es un niño de 12 años y un amo exigente. Apesar de su corta edad, Ciel Phantomhive cuenta con la confianza total de la Reina Victoria para hacerse cargo de ciertos "casos" de índole extraña.
